10 actions to elevate your professional brand

I’m going to talk about the “invisible” factors of success. Often, when we think about growing our professional brand, we focus on technical skills or “hard” knowledge. However, as I always say, THE FACTOR THAT DIFFERENTIATES A “CRACK” FROM THE MAJORITY IS ATTITUDE.

Recently, Sahil Bloom, one of the most lucid voices in modern personal development, shared a list of 10 ideas that I believe perfectly define what it means to “turn talent into performance.” These are not just career tips; they are the foundations of a solid reputation.

As Sahil says: “The most underrated career advice is often the simplest.” Here is my summary of these 10 PRINCIPLES TO HELP YOU MOVE FROM BEING A SPECTATOR TO A DRIVER OF YOUR OWN CAREER.

  1. Be easy to work with (People remember friction) Personal branding is the mark you leave on others. If you are a source of conflict, that is the “mark” people will associate with you. Being a facilitator, not a barrier, is a competitive advantage.
  2. Show up early (Late is loud)  Punctuality is a silent form of respect. When you are late, you are “loudly” telling everyone else that your time is more valuable than theirs.
  3. Move first (Don’t wait to be asked) This is what I call High Agency (I wrote about it in this post). Don’t wait for the instruction manual; if you see a gap, fill it. Those who take the initiative are the ones who shape their own reality.
  4. Push information up (No one likes surprises) In leadership, transparency is oxygen. Keeping your superiors informed—especially about bad news—builds a bridge of trust that is very hard to break.
  5. Be consistent (Steady beats flashy) We live in a world obsessed with “viral” moments and “flashy” results. But professional maturity is built on the mundane: doing the work, day after day. Excellence is a habit, not an act.
  6. Cut the noise (No gossip, no whining) Complaining is a “BLY” (Bitterly) mode behavior. It drains energy and damages your brand. Focus on the signal, ignore the noise, and stay away from office politics.
  7. Own mistakes fast (Excuses kill trust) We all fail. The difference lies in how we respond. An excuse is a “Low Agency” response; owning the mistake and proposing a solution is a “High Agency” response.
  8. Solve problems (Don’t just point at them) Anyone can find a hole in the ceiling. The valuable professional is the one who brings the ladder and the tools to fix it. Be a “solution-seeker,” not a “problem-identifier.”
  9. Do what you said (That’s your reputation) Your brand is your word. If you say you will deliver by Tuesday, deliver by Tuesday. Reliability is the rarest currency in the modern workplace.
  10. Be useful (Useful people stay) At the end of the day, organizations are looking for value. If you focus on being useful to your team, your clients, and your leaders, you become indispensable.

As I often share in my lectures, “Success is the combination of Aptitude and Attitude.” These 10 points from Sahil Bloom are 100% focused on the latter.

Which of these “Attitudes” are you going to choose to work on today?
