Gallup has proven how leaders who effectively follow these ideas significantly improve their leadership and how they manage their teams.

  • COMMUNICATION: Communication is one of the most important tasks to develop good leadership and manage teams successfully. Therefore, leaders must improve their communication. Communicate clearly and frequently. And above all, listen. Most leaders think that communicating better is talking better. But communicating better is also listening more and better. Spend quality time having conversations with team members (both individually and collectively). So, if you want to lead better, improve your communication.
  • COLLABORATION: One of the team leader’s main challenges is to get team members to collaborate more. Without a doubt, good communication will enhance this collaboration. But it will also help you to know well what the talents and strengths of the team members are. To the extent that people can work as a team, performing those tasks individually that they are best at and having other people do those tasks that they are not so good at. Make them feel satisfied with the work they have done and see that they are sincerely appreciated and duly recognized for their success. Don’t forget to celebrate any big milestone with your team.
  • COMMON PURPOSE: One of the most important responsibilities of the team leader is to define the team’s purpose clearly. And make this purpose known and accepted by all team members. Teams that are very clear about their mission and purpose usually obtain better results.
